From the HERO FOR HUDY page: On January 7th 2025, Pat received his new kidney! We are beyond grateful to everyone who supported us on this difficult journey. 

I am sorry for such a delay in posting something since I got my kidney on December 15! During the last 31 months, there have been a lot of emotions. Happiness, sadness, frustrating, depression to name a few but after losing out on the first 3 tries, the 4th one was the golden ticket. First and foremost, I want to thank the kindness and generosity of the donor and donor's family for making the decision that they did and GAVE THE GIFT OF LIFE! What selfless thing to do. I am hoping some day to meet them and let them know that I am forever grateful. I have had a few hurdles since coming home on Saturday, December 21. The anti-rejection drugs are kicking my tale end . However, I am surviving, as I have an absolutely wonderful wife who is taking care of me and making sure I stay on track. Also, my mother-in there helping, as well. Having two strong may be a good thing . The kidney I received, from GOD was definitely looking out for me to make sure I got a good one.

I also want to say THANK YOU to everyone for the kind thoughts, remarks, thoughtfulness and prayers during the last 4 years and not just for my kidney. ALL of these instances help me get thru some very tough years of not so good help.

However, I will be doing what is moving forward. I will be starting therapy and getting much stronger on the road to recovery. It is going to be a long, long road ahead but with friends, FAMILY, my mother-in-law and ESPECIALLY my wife of almost 32 years (1/23/25), anything is possible. 

I am humbled that there were so many in my corner. IT IS SO MUCH APPRECIATED. Hoping to be strong enough to get back to officiating soon.  THANK YOU, again, I appreciate everything from every.

Brian and his donor, Kim. Brian's surgery was on June 13, 2024.  Everyone looks to be doing well in recovery.

I am so happy to share that our dad has a kidney donor! When I met Kim at Title four years ago I never knew she would make such a huge impact on our lives. From the very beginning of our search for a donor Kim told me she feels like this is her calling and she has a good feeling about it. And since then she has been praying for my dad every day. Because of her obedience to follow God’s callings in her life she is giving my dad many more years to live. More years to be at his kid’s weddings, run around with his grandchildren, and be the best husband and father to my mom and us kids. There’s no way to express our gratitude for such a selfless act. Kim is one of the kindest humans I know and she will always be loved by our family! 

Surgery was successful, and Katie and her donor, Ashley are doing well in recovery.  Lucille, her new kidney is doing great as well!

I have some exciting news to share! I have had a living donor come forward, and I am scheduled for transplant surgery on Tuesday morning, May 7. I have been holding off on making a public announcement about this for fear of jinxing things, but at this point it seems like everything’s is set and I feel pretty confident that it will happen.

My donor has chosen to remain anonymous; I have no idea who they are, but I can’t even put into words how grateful I am for their selfless decision to help me. I hope that someday we can meet. But for now, I wish for them that their surgery goes well and that they have a speedy recovery.

I want to thank all of you who have been so helpful to me in spreading my story through social media, yard signs, bumper stickers and more. Facebook community, family, friends, neighbors, and coworkers all pitched in and helped in so many ways, and I believe that all of your efforts are what connected me with my donor. Also, a special thanks to Off the List (www.getoffthelist.org) for their help in putting together a communication campaign, I would have been at a loss without their help.

I am both excited and a little anxious about this. Not so much about the surgery itself but the recovery process and how that’s going to go. When I feel up to it, I’ll post something about how things are going.
